The 6th annual Slum Film Festival will take place from 22 to 27 August 2016, in venues that are still to be announced.
The Slum Film Festival (SFF) is a film platform featuring stories from slums, about slum realities and made by filmmakers from the slums in Africa and beyond. It is a celebration of the creativity of filmmakers living and working in slums. It is also an opportunity to show a range of films within slum communities with limited or no access to cinema.

The 6th annual Slum Film Festival is open to professional and amateur filmmakers from across the continent. SFF exhibits the best films from and about the informal settlements around the world and celebrates independent filmmakers.
The festival will award winners from nominated entries by a panel of judges in the following categories.
The Slum Voice Award
Best Contemporary African Film
Best Documentary Film
Best Short Film (narrative)
Best Community News Piece
Judges Choice Award
People s Choice Award
The maximum length for a submitted film is 30 minutes, and should speak positively of key issues affecting people living in slums and other informal settlements. The films should make a strong positive social statement.
The deadline for submissions is 30 May 2016.
