What led two once-loyal friends to face each other as enemies on the battlefield? The main trailer and character posters for Uprising have been unveiled, giving viewers a glimpse of the answer to this question. Directed by Kim Sang-man and produced by the renowned Park Chan-wook, who co-wrote the film with Shin Chul, Uprising offers a compelling narrative set against the chaos of war. The film explores the lives of two childhood friends turned adversaries and is set to premiere on October 11.

Uprising delves into themes of friendship, loyalty, and betrayal against the backdrop of societal class differences and war. The trailer depicts Cheon-yeong (Gang Dong-won) hoping to break free from servitude and reclaim his status, but his friendship with Jong-ryeo (Park Jeong-min) deteriorates as Jong-ryeo's family dismisses their pledge to free him. The contrast between Cheon-yeong and Jong-ryeo, friends-turned-enemies, is further highlighted amid the Gyeongbokgung Palace in flames. The chaos escalates with the onset of war, further turning the friends into enemies, with Cheon-yeong joining the militia and earning the fearsome nickname the blue-robed god for his unmatched swordsmanship, while Jong-ryeo becomes a high-ranking military officer filled with rage towards Cheon-yeong.

The character posters introduce the audience to the different people involved in this story - a slave, a nobleman, a king, a member of the civilian militia, and a Japanese soldier. Set against the backdrop of civil unrest and war, the images with intense facial expressions hint at the deep emotional conflict and turmoil to come, leaving fans eager to see how these characters will navigate their destinies amidst the chaos.

Joining them is a stellar cast including Kim Shin-rock as Beom-dong, Jin Sun-kyu as General Kim Ja-ryeong, Jung Sung-il as Genshin and Cha Seung-won as King Seonjo. As the world crumbles around them, each character must navigate their own path through the chaos, fighting against their fate.

Uprising premieres on October 11, only on Netflix.
