The organisers of DISCOP, an international tradeshow which brings together buyers, sellers and producers of televised entertainment content, have discovered an alleged travel agency aggressively contacting companies participating at DISCOP Africa 2015. The company, which goes by several names, claims to be affiliated with DISCOP and is falsely offering assistance with exhibitor registration and hotel bookings.

Organisers are urging participants to take note of the following:

This alleged travel agency is in no way affiliated with DISCOP, and are not allowed to use the DISCOP name and trademark in any solicitations.

DISCOP will never call participants and request to book a hotel over the phone.

Official DISCOP emails will come from a @basiclead.com address.

Emails from the official DISCOP travel agency will come from an @andBeyond.com address.

If participants receive a call they believe is not legitimate, they are advised to hang up and call the DISCOP office.

The scamming company goes by several names, including Exhibition Housing Management (EHM), and a quick Google search of their company name(s) will lead you to scam alerts and anecdotes.

DISCOP has requested that the company cease and desist such deceptive practices, and are working through the proper channels, having filed official complaints with the Federal Trade Commission, Attorney General of the state of California, and the Internet Crime Unit of the FBI to get the matter resolved.

The official travel agency used by DISCOP is &Beyond, and it is highly recommend that all hotel bookings are made through them. Make a hotel booking by visiting the accommodation page on the DISCOP website.
