Twitter and AFP announce collaboration to elevate credible information in Spanish

Through this new collaboration, AFP will support Spanish content on Twitter in Latin America, Spain, and the US.

We are delighted to deepen our relationship with Twitter as part of AFPs global efforts to address misleading information and to promote fact-driven journalism - Phil Chetwynd, AFP's Global News Director.

AFP's digital investigation team in Latin America and Spain is composed of more than 30 fact-checkers working to tackle misleading information online.

The fight against online misleading information can only be effective if we join forces. Currently, Twitter's Curation team provides context to help people make informed decisions about what they see on Twitter. When large or rapidly growing conversations happen on Twitter that may be noteworthy, controversial, sensitive, or may contain potentially misleading information, Twitter's Curation team sources and elevates relevant context from reliable sources.

With hundreds of millions of Tweets shared daily, Twitter's Curation team is committed to highlighting and contextualizing the wide-range of events and stories that unfold on Twitter. We're excited to collaborate with AFP to ensure that credible information is available in real time around key conversations as they emerge on Twitter. - Leandro Mota, Senior Curation Lead for Twitter Latin America.

Through this new collaboration, the AFP Factual team will help Twitter's Curation team expand the scale and increase the speed of its efforts to provide timely, authoritative context to conversations happening on Twitter. AFP will not be involved in Twitter enforcement decisions.
