TVU Networks Wins TV Technologys Best of Show Award at NAB 04

Award-winning TVUPack recognized by NewBay Media at annual broadcaster conference MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - April 22, 2014 - TVU Networks, the global technology leader in live mobile IP newsgathering solutions today announced that the company's TVUPack cellular uplink solution is the recipient of one of the industry's most prestigious technology honors, NewBay Media's Best of Show Award, presented at the 2014 NAB Show in Las Vegas by TV Technology magazine.

NewBay Media's Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry. Only a small number of products were chosen for NewBay Media's Best of Show Award from among hundreds of new products in competition.

TVU introduced a number of innovative, unique and high performance new features for TVUPack at NAB 2014, including the TVU Social platform. TVU Social enables TVUPack to plug into and be fully integrated with any social media network globally such as Facebook, Twitter and Weibo. With a press of a button, TVU Social helps a reporter or camera operator report breaking news for digital viewers and allows them to connect more often and readily. The field camera operator or reporter no longer has to choose between streaming a live shot or posting to social media as they can now do them at the same time.

TVU Social is also available as a service for station operations in the form of TVU Social Media Manager. This cloud-based service hosted by TVU allows a studio or station operation room to view and monitor still images captured in regular intervals across multiple live TVUPacks. The station can select any number of images and post them easily to supported social media platforms.

TVU also introduced its Smart VBR functionality for TVUPack transmitters. Smart VBR is an automated process that softens the picture during sudden drops in available bandwidth, ensuring that the transmission delivers a constant picture without large block artifacts or a black screen. Smart VBR takes the guesswork out of managing the bandwidth on each TVUPack transmission.
