Hollywood's most innovative stereo VFX company Legend3D, chose Mistika in The Walk directed by Robert Zemeckis. Mistika's powerful grading creativity was used to immerse audiences into the remarkable account of Philippe Petit's vertigo-inducing high-wire walk between New York's Twin Towers in 1974. Legend3D with their Mistika technology, played a key role in the tall order of bringing this true story back to life in stunning three dimensional perception.
Esteemed for delivering the highest-quality S3D film conversions, Legend3D invested in SGO's technology back in 2013 and integrated its Mistika post system within its 2D to 3D conversion process and digital asset management system.
The Walk was shot for an engaging IMAX3D experience, and Bob Zemeckis, being an expert in 3D from his past films, composed and edited each shot for the final 3D product. Legend3D's creative team designed the scenes based on the director's creative vision, and partnered with VFX Supervisor Kevin Baillie to help realise each scene in stereo, using Legend's state-of-the-art conversion pipeline and finishing with Mistika.
Legend3D's EVP of Production and Chief Marketing Officer Matt Akey remarks, Mistika gave us the freedom to audition the 3D treatment on every shot in order to position every character and object in each scene and view all completed shots in full resolution and in continuity. In this film, the 3D effect had to dramatically convey a realistic 1970s New York City from 110 stories high, and the use of Mistika helped us create the gravity and terror necessary to leave the audience trembling.
With the capacity to work on various full feature films and multiple commercials concurrently, Legend3D delivers world-class high quality projects such as The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay, Part 2, Ant-Man, Transformers: Age of Extinction, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Lego Movie, Man of Steel, Life of Pi as well as a plethora of theatrical releases in the upcoming 2016/2017 seasons. Films directed by Bob Zemeckis include Polar Express, Back to the Future, Forest Gump and many others.
