Horton Productions Supports Educational, Documentary Shoots with Panasonic AG-DVX00 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder

Patrick Horton, owner/operator of Norman, OK-based Horton Productions, has employed Panasonic's AG-DVX200 4K large-sensor handheld for the past year, using it to shoot projects ranging from educational and travel videos to documentary and broadcast projects.

Horton, who specializes in on-location 4K video production, has used the DVX200 on a high-profile documentary about investment fraud, American Con: The Meeting, the pilot episode of which has aired on dozens of major market PBS stations, as well as to shoot educational videos for Janux, an interactive learning community under the aegis of the University of Oklahoma, and for NextThought.com, a web-based learning solutions provider.

On some projects, the DVX200 is my sole camera, especially when I need to move fast-this is an ideal choice for run-and-gun situations, Horton continued. On multi-cam shoots, I can perfectly customize DVX200 scene files to match the GH4, and take advantage of the DVX200's time code in/out and 3G HD-SDI video out to sync up with the GH4 through its YAGH interface.

Horton also cited the DVX200's multi-step zoom control and the ability to track subjects in fast action as valuable assets. He edits several of the projects he shoots, utilizing Adobe Premiere Pro.
