Marquis launches Postflux for Pro Tools' audio production management software

New beta programme for Avid Pro Tools users provides versioned backup/archive

Marquis will showcase a beta version of Postflux for Pro Tools at the MPTS show. Postflux is currently an Adobe Premiere, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve production and management tool, Marquis is now expanding this to manage Avid Pro Tools projects, helping audio professionals collate and package sessions for versioned backups and archives. At MPTS, Marquis will be demonstrating the software in partnership with Scrub, a division of HHB, and is actively looking for organisations to sign up to its beta programme.

Postflux for Pro Tools will be ideal for use by a range of audio professionals; from music producers simply looking to collate a complete Pro Tools project and media, to organisations with many creative operators, who need to manage their creative and production workflows. Importantly, Postflux also provides automated protection for work-in-progress and finished sessions and enables versioning on a project-level basis, with all media contained in the package ready for versioned backup.

Postflux scans and analyses disorganised Pro Tools source project files and resolves all associated media. It then moves the project and media to a specified location, creating a new fully self-contained and organised Pro Tools project. Postflux not only checks for missing media but also ensures project integrity from the point of origination through to the versioned back-up, helping transform production efficiency and providing project protection.

We can see many pro audio companies being interested in a tool like this, from short-form commercials work through to long-form and episodic production workflows, comments John Johnson, CTO, Scrub. With commercials work, there are often many sessions per studio per day, which results in lots of new media and versions. Then with long-form productions, multiple studios can be working off a vast amount of shared media, which brings its own challenges. Both disciplines require careful media management and automating that backup for safety and archival purposes is key to resilience, accuracy and speed of work. Postflux for Pro Tools makes the packaging and backup of Pro Tools sessions and referenced media reliable, quick and simple.
