En tant qu'initiateur du Deuxi me concours national tudiant RISC-V co-organis avec le GDR SOC2 et le CNFM1, Thales a r compens le 28 juin 2022 Strasbourg trois quipes d' tudiants dont la solution permet de r duire la consommation lectrique du processeur CORE-V CVA6, un processeur RISC-V open-source d velopp au sein de l'OpenHW Group.
Le Groupe organise par ailleurs un challenge interne, l'Open Source Hardware Contest, dont les contributions dans le secteur des drones, des interfaces neuronales et des communications haut-d bit seront publi es courant 2022.
RISC-V est un jeu dinstructions ouvert qui conna t un attrait croissant depuis plusieurs ann es. Il permet dex cuter des logiciels complexes sur un processeur, sans d pendance vis- -vis d'une solution propri taire, en diminuant les co ts d'acc s et en permettant aux clients de regagner leur souverainet technologique.

Le Deuxi me concours national tudiant RISC-V qu'organise Thales, de m me que l'Open Source Hardware Contest au sein du Groupe, participe la dynamique de renforcement de la production d'Open Hardware (mat riel libre). Ce concept a pour objectif de favoriser la co-innovation avec de larges communaut s, d'augmenter la transparence gr ce de nombreux acteurs impliqu s, de r duire les co ts et d'acc l rer les temps de d veloppement. Ces b n fices r pondent un enjeu crucial, celui de la flexibilit des quipes de d veloppement, dans un environnement de plus en plus agile et comp titif.
La d marche de Thales est en ligne avec la politique europ enne volontariste en faveur de la constitution d'un cosyst me Open Hardware souverain, permettant de r pondre un double d fi : favoriser les capacit s de conception et de fabrication de microprocesseurs et faire progresser ces technologies sur les march s actuels et venir tels que l'automobile, l'automatisation industrielle, les communications, les infrastructures de donn es, la sant ou encore la d fense. Alors que la Commission europ enne a tabli avec le Chips Act une feuille de route en faveur du d veloppement des capacit s de production des semi-conducteurs de derni re g n ration et durables, l'Open Hardware constitue le nouvel enjeu de souverainet et de r silience pour permettre l'Europe de se prot ger des perturbations des cha nes d'approvisionnement en mat riels.
