American Underground Exec to Lead Big Top Jobs Platform

Molly Demarest is assuming a new position within American Underground, taking over as leader of the recently acquired Big Top jobs and event platform.

Demarest had served as senior director of operations and finance for AU.

The AU, which operates startup spaces in Durham and Raleigh and also sponsors social events, acquired Big Top earlier this year from Triangle entrepreneur Chris Heivly.

Big Top features what are called reverse job fairs is which employers pitch the benefits of working for them to prospective employees. It also offers an online talent pool platform for people seeking jobs and companies looking to hire workers.

Five years ago, I scaled real estate operations for high growth startups in my role at the American Underground, and I am excited to apply that same mindset in building out talent infrastructure in the Triangle through a mix of Big Tops exciting events and an all-new online platform for job seekers and companies, Demarest said in the announcement. My biggest commitment is to continue the American Undergrounds success in expanding opportunities for talented women and people of color.

Both AU and WRAL TechWire are owned by Capitol Broadcasting.

So much of the American Undergrounds success has been realized thanks to Mollys vision and organization, said Doug Speight, who recently was named executive director at American Underground. Access to talent is a critical element to the success of companies, regardless of size or industry. Big Top recently launched a new version of its website and host its next Reverse Job Fair on Jan. 16 at the Research Triangle Parks Frontier Center. Companies and individuals can find out more and register online.
