LeGrow.Studio Builds Broadcast Hub for ePro League

To elevate the Belgian ePro League's EA Sports FC 2025 tournament into a fully broadcast ready event, Brussels based LeGrow.Studio implemented a comprehensive acquisition, control and delivery workflow built around Blackmagic Design technology.
Working in partnership with global sports streaming giant DAZN and technical specialists at Mediapro, the studio engineered a scalable, broadcast grade environment capable of supporting 16 consecutive days of live esports tournament.
The development of esports demands broadcast standards on a par with traditional televised sports, said Pierre Martin, live director and producer for LeGrow.Studio. Our first task was to build an environment capable of delivering professional broadcast quality content while meeting the unique needs of competitive gaming, all within a specially created 1,000 square meter space that includes 450 square meters of shooting space.
At the heart of the studio workflow sat an ATEM 4 M/E Constellation HD live production switcher, with all signals managed and routed using a Blackmagic Videohub 40 40 12G router. The system was controlled via an ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel 20, and content was recorded using a mixture of HyperDeck Studio HD Pro and HyperDeck Studio HD Mini broadcast decks.
The technical complexity lies in managing multiple video sources effectively, explained Martin. Basically, we created 16 different feeds, eight player views and eight additional camera angles, all of which needed to be instantly accessible to the director.
The competitive area featured an expansive semicircular set with eight player stations, each equipped with integrated audio and video systems to capture player reactions.
To cover the studio floor, LeGrow.Studio employed a Polecam jib arm. It was outfitted with a Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 and a Panasonic 12-50mm zoom lens, all connected to a custom dual monitor box that provided fiber connectivity, power distribution, PoE for intercoms, and SDI to tally signal routing.
Our camera selection prioritized production efficiency and system integration, Martin explained. We needed gear that would deliver broadcast quality imagery while connecting to our existing infrastructure.
The broader camera package relied on the Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2, rigged with the Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder, and Blackmagic Zoom and Focus Demands, chosen for reliability, ease of use, and seamless integration with the Blackmagic Design live production workflow.
The studio's video signal workflow distributed signals throughout the facility over compressed IP, enabling flexible monitoring across different rooms. Audio commentary was managed using a Yamaha digital mixer with Dante networking, allowing integration of commentator mics, game audio, and in ear monitoring.
Audio presents unique challenges in hybrid production, noted Martin. Our solution gives producers more precise control over these elements in real time.
With a three year roadmap in place, LeGrow.Studio has built scalability into the tournament's system design, ensuring future expansion capabilities as the competition grows. We've designed and implemented this system with expansion in mind, confirmed Martin. As the competition grows, we can add capacity without rebuilding the core thanks to the modular nature of Blackmagic's solutions and our approach.
