
Artemple-Hollywood, a high-end, full-service visual effects and design studio, has expanded its in-house team with the addition of two seasoned industry veterans to its ranks.
Wei Zheng, Principal/Executive Creative Director, Artemple-Hollywood, has announced the hiring of Richard Kidd as the company's new Creative Director/Senior VFX Supervisor. Most recently, Kidd was the on-set Visual Effects Supervisor/Visual Effects Producer for 20th Century Fox's romantic drama, The Longest Ride, for director George Tillman, Jr. Kidd also was the VFX Supervisor on the client side for Summit Entertainment's blockbuster hit film, Twilight, and action thriller, Man on a Ledge.
Kidd will be working in the areas of feature films, television, commercials, theme park content, special venue projects, digital content, and experiential marketing.
In addition, Zheng has also named Scott McCullough as the company's new in-house Director and Director of Photography. McCullough is an award-winning commercial director who will specialize in live action production for Artemple's clients seeking commercials, long form and digital content.

ABOUT RICHARD KIDD:
Richard Kidd, Artemple-Hollywood's new Creative Director/VFX Supervisor, is best known for having pioneered the use of many technologies that are used in todays digital effects, such as motion capture, fully computer-generated people, cyber scanning, digital water, and virtual sets. While at Digital Domain, Kidd formed and oversaw the team that generated all of the ocean water in director James Camerons Academy Award-winning film, Titanic. Subsequently, he was hired to work with the Wachowski brothers to design and breakdown the visual effects for the groundbreaking film The Matrix, while working at Manex VFX.
Kidd went on to work as the Digital Effects Supervisor at Sony Pictures Imageworks on two of Robert Zemeckis films Castaway and What Lies Beneath. During his tenure, he managed an effects budget in excess of $12 million, and supervised a team of sixty artists, engineers, and software developers to produce some of the film industrys highest quality digital effects.
Kidd also supervised the visual effects on Ask the Dust with Double Edge Digital for renowned writer/director Robert Towne, and oversaw a key action sequence on The Chronicles of Narnia for director Andrew Adamson. In 2007, Kidd supervised the visual effects for both Spider-Man 3 and Transformers on behalf of i.solve and his own company, Catalyst Media Group. That same year, Kidd was the Visual Effects Supervisor on the production side for award-winning director Catherine Hardwicke, on Summit Entertainments blockbuster film Twilight. Kidd went on to supervise visual effects on Sony Pictures hit film Hancock, with i.solve.
In 2009, Kidd consulted with i.solve on the blockbuster film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and directed a stereoscopic animated short film entitled TIFE. In 2010, he was highly instrumental in enabling Russia to win the bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup by providing his directing and post-production expertise to Rupert Waingwrights Adore Creative. In 2011, Kidd was the Visual Effects Supervisor on the production side for Summit Entertainments film Man on a Ledge, for director Asger Leth. Most recently, he was the on-set Visual Effects Supervisor/Visual Effects Producer for Fox 2000 Pictures romantic drama The Longest Ride, for director George Tillman Jr.
Throughout his career, Kidd has collaborated with some of the entertainment industrys top directors and producers, including Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Wyck Godfrey, Grant Heslov, Catherine Hardwicke and Rupert Wainwright.
Kidd is a former member of the Visual Effects Society Board of Directors and the Gnomon School of Visual Effects Advisory Board. He has lectured on visual effects and filmmaking at UCLA, the American Film Institute, The Art Institute of Los Angeles, the University of Florida, and the Entertainment Industry Development Council.
