Winning the Overall Mobile Technology Award, also known as the CTO Award, means that Ericsson is recognized as a technology leader in 2020 for its innovative Ericsson Spectrum Sharing solution.
The 25th annual awards were judged by a panel leading industry and subject matter experts, analysts, journalists, academics and mobile operator representatives. According to the judges, Ericsson Spectrum Sharing helps operators to migrate from 4G to 5G in a faster, simpler and more efficient manner and helps operators maximize usage of infrastructure and spectrum assets.

Ericsson Spectrum Sharing also won the Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough Award. According to the award judges, This is a powerful enabler that will help accelerate the rollout of 5G by maximizing the re-use of existing hardware, thus saving costs while avoiding disruption to customer service, and helping to speed time to revenue for both telcos and customers.
Ericsson Spectrum Sharing can significantly increase resource efficiency by introducing 5G in lower frequency bands at existing sites to create coverage. This marks the first time spectrum can be shared dynamically between technologies on the same band, enabling spectrum sharing between 4G and 5G. Service providers can roll out 5G with minimal impact on user experience, increase efficiency, boost service assurance and greatly enhance performance and mobility.
Stay ahead of the game with Ericsson Spectrum Sharing Read the paper In addition, Ericsson has been recognized with a GTI award, in Mobile Technology category at the annual GTI (Global TDD Initiative) awards for its RAN Compute solution and product portfolio.
Ericssons RAN Compute solution won the award for its role in the commercialization of 5G, as it enables communications service providers to take advantage of low-frequency bands to achieve wide 5G New Radio (NR) coverage without affecting 4G service all while protecting existing spectrum investments. Ericsson's baseband products, combined with Ericsson Radio System solutions, enable operators to maximize the use of available frequency through Ericsson Spectrum Sharing, Ericsson's dynamic spectrum sharing technology.
