Inbound and outbound pngers at Ningbo Airport hits historical high

With the freight throughput exceeding 100,000 tons, Ningbo Airport witnesses a historical high for the inbound and outbound passengers. According to the statistics from Ningbo Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in 2016, the number of inbound and outbound flights stood at 9286, while the number of inbound and outbound passengers reached 1.167 million, up by 8.6% and 8.5% respectively over the previous year.

It is the first time that the number of the passengers exceeds 1.1 million. In terms of the destination, Hong Kong and Taiwan rank the top two, claiming for about half of the passengers. The other major destinations include South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Macao, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines and Cambodia. In recent years, Ningbo Lishe International Airport has made great efforts to introduce the large airlines from home and abroad to launch the international and regional flight routes. So far, there are 13 airlines that have opened the international routes, covering such popular areas as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, such Japanese or Korean cities as Jeju, Cheongju, Inchon, Osaka, Shizuoka and Nagoya, as well as the major tourist destinations in Southeast Asia including Bangkok, Singapore, Hna Trang, Bali and Siem Reap.

Specifically speaking, in 2016, the number of inbound and outbound passengers to and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan reached 700,000, and that to and from Japan and South Korea exceeded 100,000. The direct flight route to Thailand suspended for two months due to its domestic policies, however, the number of passengers still exceeded 100,000, and the flight will be restored during the Spring Festival holiday of 2017. Besides, the numbers of passengers on the two direct flight routes to Vietnam and Singapore reached 70,000 and 40,000 respectively. However, along with the rapid increase of the passenger flow come greater risks for the airport.

In 2016, the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau spotted 541 symptom cases and diagnosed 134 infectious cases among the inbound and outbound passengers, up by 84.6% and 41.1% respectively over the previous year.
