We all have a memory bite - a dish that unlocks a treasure trove of memories and reminds us that food is a gateway to the stories and emotions that shape who we are. In the brand-new series Memory Bites with Matt Moran, the iconic chef and restaurateur transports beloved famous faces back to pivotal moments in their life through the power of heart-warming recipes and conversation. The six-part series premieres Monday 10 March at 7:30pm on SBS Food and SBS On Demand and shows the way to the heart is through the stomach with flavours rich in sincerity, warmth, and humour.
With an incredible line up of guests joining Matt in the kitchen, in Memory Bites with Matt Moran, they all get the one-on-one treatment as they talk through their most defining food memories.
The celebrated chef uses a memory box' to reveal surprising relics that speak to the special memories of guests including acclaimed actress and TV personality Pia Miranda, internationally renowned comedian Ross Noble, singer and songwriter Christine Anu, celebrated actor Richard Roxburgh, global entertainer Courtney Act, and iconic actress Danielle Cormack.
Matt then brings these memories to life on a plate as he recreates treasured meals from scratch that are inspired by their past, and uncovers personal stories of identity, family and history. Each dish sparks forgotten memories and candid revelations, celebrating culture, legacy, and the timeless power of food to connect us all.
Throughout the series, Matt guides his special guests through their memory bites one ingredient at a time. A life changing moment is unearthed for Pia Miranda when she shares how her Nonna sparked her passion for acting, Ross Noble's poignant memory box similarly reveals how his Grandma Edith sparked his comedy career by way of an album that was later lost in a devastating fire.
Christine Anu and Matt honour her Torres Strait Islander heritage with a seafood feast that evokes heartfelt memories of Christine's late father and his spearfishing legacy, while Richard Roxburgh too reflects on his late mother Billie's creativity and the lasting influence of her meals, sharing deeply personal revelations about his struggles with grief after her passing.
Courtney Act reflects on the personal challenges that shaped Shane and Courtney, and beautician mother Annette's flair for food and style, while Danielle Cormack's journey speaks to the unlikely influence of iconic TV chefs from New Zealand, Hudson and Halls, whose fearless spirit continues to guide her approach to life and artistry.
Host, Matt Moran said: Food has this incredible ability to take us back to defining moments in our lives. In Memory Bites, I get to uncover the stories and memories behind some truly special dishes with some amazing Aussies.
