HH Ruler of Sharjah Attends International Conference...

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended today (Sunday, February 21) the inaugural session of the 5-day International Conference, Solutions for a Better Life: World Future Leaders' at Al Razi Hall of the University of Sharjah. Held under the patronage of HH the Ruler of Sharjah, the 5-day international conference is being hosted by the University of Sharjah in partnership with West Virginia State University of the United States and the World Health Organisation (WHO). Welcoming His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, WHO officials and international academics and scholars, HE Hamid M K Al-Naimiy, Chancellor of University of Sharjah thanked HH the Ruler of Sharjah for his gracious presence on the occasion and constant guidance and support for the University of Sharjah in particular and educational and scientific initiatives in the Emirate in general.

In his opening remarks, Chancellor Prof Hamid M K Al-Naimiy said that one of the cornerstones of the University of Sharjah's vision is the welfare and development of society. The University of Sharjah has worked towards that vision that over the years in the best possible way by collaborating and interacting with various institutions of society, he said.

Today, following the directives of HH the Ruler of Sharjah, to bring this educational institution into the global arena, the University of Sharjah has joined efforts to develop the global society through this international conference titled, Towards a Better Life,' which has been organised in collaboration with West Virginia State University. This has been acknowledged by HE Earl Ray Tomblin, Governor of West Virginia, who has issued an official proclamation declaring February 21, 2016, the day on which Towards a better life' conference has been launched in collaboration between West Virginia State University and University of Sharjah in the UAE, is a Healthy Lifestyles Partnership Day, said Prof Al-Naimiy.

Expressing his confidence that the 5-day international conference will make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of the people in the UAE in particular and the world at large, he said: The conference opening today will present a number of scientific studies in the fields of health, nutrition and sports to provide innovative solutions for improving the lifestyle of all members of societies, from all segments and ages.

According to organisers, the conference offers more than just scientific papers and academic discussions. The initiative is aimed at bringing together leading international scholars and young thinkers for the purpose of identifying and finding solutions for world health issues.

It will see the participation of students from around the world, who will present their creative ideas before the competent committees. On the sidelines of the conference, a sports day will be organised with the participation of high-ranking officials and international figures and in the presence of local and international media to emphasise the important role of sports in ensuring better health for individuals and communities. The conference will also be accompanied by an exhibition of products by international companies operating in the fields of health, nutrition and sports. A well-calibrated programme of oral and poster presentations, and dedicated workshops, will guarantee an efficient exchange of ideas and encourage productive discussions.

The conference includes an academic symposium, World Future Leaders Program for university students and high school students followed finally by an exciting day of sports activities and contests. It discusses matters that are of concern to all age groups with the aim of introducing these groups to best health, sports and nutrition practices. The result is expected to be a free and focused exchange of ideas and experiences aimed at finding solutions to health- and life- related issues and to identify the best practices for a better life.
