VMware Powers MicroStrategy's Innovative Private and Public Cloud Services MicroStrategy Embraces VMware vCloud Suite to Take Its Customer Experience to a New Level PALO ALTO, Calif., May 7, 2013 VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, today announced that MicroStrategy Incorporated, a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) and mobile software, has implemented the VMware vCloud Suite to power private and public clouds in support of its internal operations and high-growth global business analytics Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) businesses.

Private Cloud Simplifies Business Operations and Delivers Significant Productivity Gains
Following the design and approval of its cloud reference architecture, MicroStrategy implemented its VMware software-based private cloud in only 45 days. Today, MicroStrategy's private cloud encompasses 3,700 virtualized servers supporting departments such as IT operations, product development, Quality Assurance (QA), customer support and sales.
The private cloud deployment has generated costs savings. Additionally, MicroStrategy IT also reduced the number of physical machines required to run IT operations and business units by more than 200 servers lowering the overall cost of maintaining, powering and storing physical servers.
In addition, MicroStrategy has experienced productivity gains across a variety of departments. Engineering has dramatically reduced a variety of previously manual processes resulting in savings of more than 8,000 man hours across its global team. The MicroStrategy salesforce can now provision any customer demo within minutes or a proof-of-concept environment within hours via its private cloud, enabling the team to take advantage of business opportunities and showcase product capabilities faster than ever before.
