New system provides simple yet flexible operation over existing IP network

Trilogy Communications, a Clear-Com company, announced today that Sweden's national public radio broadcaster, Sveriges Radio AB (SR), has installed a new intercom system at its Stockholm facility based on the Trilogy Gemini III matrix system. The contract was won by Trilogy's local distributor, Mediability, following a tender process.

SR was seeking to replace its legacy intercom system with an IP/network based intercom solution, and expressed a particular desire for a stand-alone system with independent panels so as not to be limited by the platforms in its studios. Working together with Mediability, the Trilogy team developed a solution proposal based on Gemini III. They understood and met SR's specific requirements for key tallies and busy labels, enabling the Trilogy system to operate in a similar way to the old system. A system demonstration proved that the Trilogy system could operate over the SR IP network.

The system comprises a 64-port Gemini III matrix intercom system with 64 channel DSP, MADI/AES interface and IP panel interfaces. 43 Trilogy 20-button, IP-connected Touch Desktop panels are used in the individual studios, while six of the 30-button, IP-connected Touch 2RU panels are installed in the MCR area. A virtual panel app is used for mobile operators to connect remotely. Each panel can be configured individually depending on requirements. The system also features a group talk' function that was specially developed for SR.

SR's system based on the Gemini matrix blends simplicity of installation and operation with the sophisticated functionality that helps the production team maintain clear and timely communications throughout their live broadcasts, said John Sparrow, Senior Systems Consultant, Trilogy Communications.
