
The Stars Line Up for New Season on RT Radio 1 RT Radio 1 demonstrated today why it is Irelands most-listened-to radio station.
Top RT Radio 1 presenters Joe Duffy, S an O'Rourke, Claire Byrne, Miriam O'Callaghan, Ronan Collins, Derek Mooney, Mary Wilson, Sean Rocks and John Creedon were just some of the names attending today's photo-call in RT .

RT is committed to delivering engaging and compelling public service programmes, and this is at the heart of RT Radio 1's mission. With quality, impartial programming right through the day, Radio 1 is bigger than any one presenter; it's truly a team effort, from dawn to dusk, and our listeners can be assured that once the dial is set, there's no need to go elsewhere.
Tom McGuire, Acting Head of Radio 1, announced a range of new arts and features, drama, documentary, news and current affairs and sports output on Radio 1, while RT also confirmed details of new programming and features on RT 2fm, RT lyric fm, RT R idio na Gaeltachta and RT Digital Radio.
RT Radio 1 Daytime & Weekends
Today with Sean O'Rourke, the mid-morning current affairs magazine debuts with all the stories of the day, including sports coverage, in-depth features and consumer interest. Ronan Collins continues to be the most listened to music programme in the country. Joe Duffy returns with Liveline, the number one talk show in Ireland, and will continue to air the country's concerns, giving voice to the issues affecting people's daily lives.
Drivetime with Mary Wilson continues, with weekly columnists including Olivia O'Leary, and extended sport every Friday. Late Debate also returns, with Audrey Carville back in the chair.
Weekend entertainment on RT Radio 1 will continue to sparkle as Marian Richardson will be recapping the week's highlights as she returns with Playback. Saturday with Claire Byrne returns on Saturday 21st September, with Brian Dowling in the hot-seat in Claire's absence. The programme will be live from Fine Gael Ard Fheis in Limerick and the Labour Party Conference in Killarney in November.
The annual Budget takes place on 15 October and RT Radio 1 will have a special edition of Drivetime and the annual budget phone-in on Today with S an O'Rourke. Special programming for the forthcoming Referenda include outside broadcasts and studio debates ahead of referenda on Seanad abolition and Courts on Friday October 4 and on Saturday October 5 RT Radio 1 will broadcast a special results programming.
The National Ploughing Championships are taking place in Co. Laois on 24-26 September and RT Radio 1 will be there. Today with Sean O'Rourke and Liveline's Funny Thursday will both be broadcasting in the RT marquee. More: http://www.rte.ie/radio/newseason/radio1.html

Highlights: Extensive Heineken Cup coverage and all of Ireland's November rugby internationals
RT Radio 1 is geared up for an autumn of top class sporting coverage. In Gaelic Games we have exclusive national commentary on the All Ireland hurling and football finals. We follow the Republic of Ireland soccer team's quest for a place in the 2014 World Cup, with commentary on all of the remaining qualifying matches. As the rugby season gets going we will have extensive Heineken Cup coverage featuring all four Irish provinces and we will also carry exclusive coverage all three of Ireland's November internationals including the visit of the world champions New Zealand to Dublin. Highlights: Two new book programmes and nationwide OBs for Culture Night
John Kelly presents Irish Noir, a BAI funded four-part series looking at the development of Irish crime fiction. The Book Show will be presented by Sinead Gleeson. Arts Tonight, presented by Vincent Woods, returns to its weekly slot. Arena continues the autumn season in its new slot of 7pm, while Sunday Miscellany, one of RT Radio 1's longest running and most beloved programmes, remains in the schedule on Sundays at 9am, providing a much-honoured home for new Irish writing. Drama on One, on RT Radio 1

Shorts Shortts, a new series of short plays features the dramatic and comic skills of actor and comedian Pat Shortt. Five Irish writers, Mike Finn, Jane Coyle, James Finlan, Sean O'Doherty and Pat O'Connor span the historical, the romantic, the dramatic, and the tragic in Shortt's plays.
