The latest eye-candy on The River Unathi Mkhize spoke to Drum Magazine about his role on 1Magic's telenovela The River and acknowledged the love his fans have been showing him while gushing about his looks.

I know I am good looking. I know I have the body and I understand the attention that is going to come with it. I work tirelessly and those around me know the pain I put myself through to ensure that the body is all giving and on point because obviously that's what the character also wants.

So, if you do take a good care of yourself, it is bound to be eye candy, but for me I take it as a validity of taking good care of myself regardless of what people are saying, he told the publication.

UNATHI PLAYING NKANYISO ON THE RIVER' Unathi says when he first read the script, he thought it was going to be a challenge introducing a new family to the fans of the telenovela but the Hlophe family expected people to have a love and hate relationship with them.

at first, we discussed with everyone from the Hlophe family and said, guys there's a high possibility that people are going to like the family and then afterwards say that okay now please take these Zulus out of the storyline, we want out original The River' so what we did is that we prepared ourselves for that journey and focused on the work, he says.

The 23-year-old says he loves playing the role of Nkanyiso because through him, he gets to do things he would never dream of even doing in real life.

Nkanyiso gets to live the life that I would live if there was with no consequences in this world, you know if you could sleep around or whatever because you want to and there was no consequences and principles in place and so forth, he tells the publication.
