Globecast Delivers Multiple Services for FIFA World Cup 04

PARIS - 14 July, 2014 - The 20th FIFA World Cup in Brazil saw Germany lift the prized trophy. Globecast is pleased to announce that it provided live standup and playout services to non-rights holding broadcasters from the 12 tournament venue across Brazil.

In partnership with Overon America and Spanish technical services specialist Mediapro, Globecast provided fully-manned, live standup positions - including, cameras, lighting, microphones, IFB - and uplink and satellite capacity from Brazil to Europe. Both HD and SD feeds were supported.

The Amazonas 1 satellite was used to deliver live content from 12 Brazilian cities to Globecast's Paris and London facilities before onward transmission to customers worldwide. Local Globecast Business units handled the onward transmission, booking the required satellite or fibre capacity between Paris or London and the clients own network. In all, 50 hours of live, on-camera stand ups - generally 10-15 minute segments - were delivered from the 12 different venue cities, along with playout of pre-recorded material. This was fed back to customers in France, Croatia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Japan and China.

We worked very closely with our customers and partners to ensure the seamless delivery of their content. We also helped them deal with local regulatory restrictions on the ground, to ensure that viewers around the globe were able to enjoy all the life and colour from the event, says Alessandro Alquati, Head of Global Contribution at Globecast.
