Technology preview at NAB 2018 demonstrates seamless live streaming workflows, extending SRT as the alternative to RTMP and other methods
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - NAB SHOW - April 9, 2018 - Haivision, a market leader in video networking and streaming solutions, today announced a technology preview of its new StreamSRT solution at NAB 2018 with demonstrations at the Microsoft and Haivision booths.
StreamSRT is a Haivision solution that leverages the SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) open source video streaming protocol to contribute live video to Azure-based video processing workflows, including native integration with Azure Media Services to reach broadscale online audiences.
StreamSRT has two components: the StreamSRT desktop application, a Windows application that takes RTMP or TS streams and transmits them securely using SRT protocol to the StreamSRT Gateway, an Azure-native application that receives the SRT streams and converts them to the user's choice of RTMP for Azure Media Services CDN delivery, TS for broadcast processing through the Azure cloud, or SRT for performance delivery across the internet to SRT-enabled endpoints.
Live event streamers and broadcasters still relying on RTMP for stream contribution to Azure can now simply install the StreamSRT application on-site and take advantage of low latency and secure reliable transport to Azure.
Since Haivision introduced SRT in 2013 and made it open source at NAB 2017, the protocol and technology stack have become a proven and widely-adopted solution for low latency video contribution over the most unpredictable networks, said Peter Maag, chief marketing officer, Haivision. StreamSRT as a standalone application makes the benefits of SRT available to a much broader audience.
