NAB 2013 Recap - Bring along some friends

Once again we were present at the NAB in Las Vegas with our very own booth. But this year, we brought along a few friends to demonstrate some on the job expertise next to our very new software generation: Ventuz 4.

After the great success we had with our NAB booth last year, there was no question whether we should do this a second time. With a revised booth design we stormed the floors again last month with a very special treat in tow: our newest software generation Ventuz 4.

With Ventuz 4 we introduce a new product to the Ventuz software suite: the Ventuz Director. The Director will serve as a playout and control tool for Ventuz content. It is based on familiar workflows such as timelines, pages and templates, and will therefore be easy to learn for graphics operators of any market.

Ventuz 4 comes with a new licensing model that no longer differentiates between the broadcast and the event markets. This way, all functionalities will be available to all customers depending on their individual needs. Stay tuned for more info.

But next to showing off the new generation, we wanted the NAB folks to get an idea about the wide variety of installations that can be done with Ventuz. To accomplish that goal, we invited a few partners to show their work on our booth. Here is what they had to offer:

Molden Media and TrackMen installed a slim but highly professional virtual set technology on our booth called VioTrack. All graphics, backdrop for the green screen and on-air graphics, were created in Ventuz and keyed live onto an HD-SDI signal. Broadcast performance at its finest!

Astuce Media provided their complex Data Platform, a data delivery and aggregation system, which fed data to Ventuz broadcast graphics.

Cat&Mouse, the game show experts from the UK, demoed CatCall, a system which allows for the routing of audio and video signals from skype seamlessly through the television broadcast chain to air.

Spotted Zebra showed an interactive installation running on three superb screens by Finnish manufacturer MultiTouch.

Three monkeys, our dear friends from Dubai, provided a true eye-catcher with a huge interactive holoscreen by manufacturer Mediascreen. Additionally, they used their demo station to show off some high-end sports graphics, really pushing the Ventuz render engine and thus proving its performance.

We would like to thank all Ventuz partners, plus the guys from NMR, MultiTouch and AMD for their participation, their hard work and the good times we had. NAB was very exciting and a lot of fun. We might just become regulars. See you again next year!
