Ross Video's OverDrive Automation adds New Workflow and 3rd Party Production Switcher Support 12 Sep 2013

Ross Video's OverDrive V14 adds a completely redesigned Newsroom plug-in, making it faster and easier to build a newscast. The latest version of the world's number one automated production control solution (APC) will be launched at IBC 2013.

The OverDrive feature set is very customer driven. With this new plug-in, the user is able to code a show much faster with fewer key strokes, said Scott Bowditch, Marketing Product Manager, OverDrive, Ross Video. The new file structure and dual screen layout make it simpler to navigate through user-defined shots and templates to create complex programming with ease.

Included in the V14 release are a number of new third-party device interfaces and color-coded MOS items in OverDrive rundowns. This is in addition to many under the hood changes that allow OverDrive to run faster.

Ross is also announcing plans to support third-party production switchers with development currently underway. Previously, only Ross Vision and Synergy Series production switchers could be automated from OverDrive, and now other manufacturers models will be supported. This will allow customers to take advantage of the class-leading production value and return on investment offered by OverDrive.

This might seem like an unusual move, but part of our philosophy at Ross is to collaborate with and help other friendly companies - including ones we compete with directly, continued Bowditch.
