2022 Sports Emmys: ESPN Takes Home 11 Statues; Fox Sports' MLB at Field of Dreams Wins for Outstanding Live Special The NFL on CBS's RomoVision' picks up Wensel Technical Achievement Award By Jason Dachman, Chief Editor

ESPN led all network groups with 11 wins at last night's Sports Emmy Awards, followed by six trophies each for CBS Sports, NBC Sports Group, and NFL Media; five for Turner Sports; and three for Fox Sports Media Group. In the key categories, Fox s MLB at Field of Dreams broadcast won for Outstanding Live Special, ESPN's Monday Night Football With Peyton & Eli was named Outstanding Live Series, and CBS s coverage of the epic Bills-Chiefs AFC Playoffs game won for Outstanding Playoff Coverage.

Fox Sports Producer Pete Macheska closed out the night accepting the Outstanding Live Special award for Fox's MLB at Field of Dreams coverage.

NFL Network's NFL 360 picked up the most awards of any program, with four. NBC's Games of the XXXII Olympiad coverage received three.

Among the 47 categories were key technical awards, including ESPN's CFP National Championship Game coverage for Outstanding Technical Team Event and NBC's Super Bowl LVI Pregame Show for Outstanding Technical Team Studio. The prestigious George Wensel Technical Achievement Award went to the NFL on CBS for its use of RomoVision. In addition, Fox Sports continued to dominate the Outstanding Audio/Sound - Live category, winning again this year for its MLB coverage.

On the Outstanding Studio Show front, Inside the NBA on TNT won in the Weekly category, Good Morning Football in the Daily, and Inside the NBA on TNT: Playoffs in the Limited Run. In addition. Telemundo was awarded Outstanding Studio Show in Spanish for its work at the Tokyo Olympics.

In terms of digital/interactive categories, NBC's Games of the XXXII Olympiad won for Outstanding Interactive Experience - Event Coverage, NBA on TNT Tuesday for Outstanding Interactive Experience - Original Programming, and MLB Home Run Derby: MLB XR for Outstanding Digital Innovation.

NBC's Tokyo Games coverage was named Outstanding Graphic Design - Event Show; Bleacher Report's The Portal, Outstanding Graphic Design - Specialty. NBA Social's Welcome to NBA Lane was awarded Outstanding Studio or Production Design/Art Direction.

Trailblazing sports journalist Lesley Visser was honored with the prestigious Sports Lifetime Achievement Award. A $40,000 grant went to Delaware State University's Once a Hornet. Always a Hornet The Past, Present and Future of Delaware State University Football as part of the recently launched Coca Cola HBCU Sports Production Grant.
