NFVF announces delay in Q1 funding approvals --

On 5 June, the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) announced that the foundations quarter one funding application approvals will be delayed and there will be a further delay in the announcement of the production and development funding projects.
Before the end of the 2014/15 financial year the NFVF had exceeded its targets for production and development projects, which resulted in quarter four funding applications not being evaluated. Due to the NFVF s commitment to contribute towards the industry s growth, it was decided that the quarter four production and development projects be evaluated with quarter one applications received for the financial year 2015/16.
The compounded applications meant that the panel required more time to evaluate the applications thoroughly and therefore was not able to submit applications for the council meeting held on 28 May, thus leading to a delay in the announcement of production and development projects
In an effort to ensure projects are not delayed further, NFVF CEO Ms Zama Mkosi, has called for a special council meeting to be held in order to evaluate and approve applications that were not put forward on 28 May.
The special council meeting will be held on 3 July to approve those recommended applications put forward by panel chairs. The NFVF will inform candidates of the outcome of applications on 10 July 2015.
The quarter two call for funding applications will go out, as planned, on 10 June 2015, deadline for these applications is on 30 June. The council meeting to approve quarter two applications has been changed to 31 August 2015, to allow more time for the evaluation of applications.
