More than 100,000 Canadians joined the country's biggest New Year's party live in one of City's three party centrals in Toronto, Calgary,
and Edmonton
The City New Year's Bash 2013 claims top spot for viewers in Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton, with double and triple-digit wins
in key markets
TORONTO (January 2, 2013) Broadcasting live in front of more than 100,000 Canadians from three party centrals across the country in Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton the City New Year's Bash 2013 attracted a record-breaking 5.9 million unique viewers, tuning into some or all of the four-hour broadcast. 1.7 million Canadians tuned-in at midnight ET to see City personalities welcome in the New Year with the ultimate countdown spectacle featuring fireworks and an exclusive performance of Auld Lang Syne by multiplatinum-selling group, The Tenors.
Kicking off the festivities live from Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square starting at 10 p.m.ET, the City New Year's Bash 2013 rang-in the New Year in Toronto rocking an average audience of 546,700 viewers (P2 ) and drawing 4.5 million unique viewers tuning in to some or all of the broadcast. In Canada's largest city, the City New Year's Bash 2013 outperformed Global's New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls by 70% among 2 viewers, and 101% and 145% among key demos among A25-54 and A18-49, respectively.
Immediately following the Toronto event at midnight ET, the party continued live from Olympic Plaza in Calgary and Churchill Square in Edmonton as the City New Year's Bash heralded in 2013 in the west, drawing an average of 406,900 viewers (P2 ) and a total reach of 2.8 million viewers. The #1 destination for countdown viewers, in Calgary the City New Year's Bash 2013 bested New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls, by 130% among 2 viewers, 110% among A25-54, and 174% among A18-49. The inaugural year of the Edmonton celebration also garnered a strong audience among key demos, beating closest competitor Global by 24% among 2 viewers and 19% among A18-49.

Canada's longest-running New Year's countdown featured star-packed performances from City hosted events in Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton from Johnny Reid, Bridgit Mendler, The Tenors, Serena Ryder, Kardinal Offishall, Shawn Desman, Massari, Jully Black, and Disney On Ice.
From Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square, City on-air personalities Dina Pugliese, Kevin Frankish, Tracy Moore, and Gord Martineau rang in the New Year in front of thousands of revelers. From Calgary, City on-air personalities Tara Slone, Ted Henley, Andrew Schultz, and Jill Belland, alongside Mookie Wilson from Lite 95.9, hosted festivities from Olympic Plaza. And in Edmonton, City on-air personalities Ryan Jespersen and Bridget Ryan, alongside Liann Cameron from 91.7 The BOUNCE, and Brandy Taylor from SONiC 102.9 joined forces to host celebrations from Churchill Square.
In addition to the live and television audiences, more than 45,000 Canadians across the country on multiple platforms had the opportunity to celebrate with millions of their closest friends through the Citytv Social Stream App, giving users the ultimate second screen experience, to chat with other fans, share pictures, and send greetings to loved ones. An additional 13,000 viewers joined the festivities by watching the City New Year's Bash 2013 through a live video stream at Citytv.com, or through mobile on the Citytv Video App for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Android - doubling the live streaming traffic for this special year-over-year on all platforms. City also owned the twittersphere this New Year's with the official hashtag #City2013 trending nationally even before the start of the broadcast at 10 p.m. ET.
