WITH NEARLY 2 DOZEN ALBUMS UNDER THEIR BELT, THE DUO REPRESENTS THE MOST POPULAR FEMALE VOICES IN THE ARAB WORLD TODAY
Top Arab female superstars Egypt's Angham and Syrian musical legend Assala Nasri are set to wow the UAE music lovers at their joint concert on Friday, February 24th, at Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah.
As part of its efforts to promote a culture of appreciation of music and arts, Al Majaz Amphitheatre, managed by Sharjah Media Centre, the communication and public relation arm of the Government of Sharjah, has been hosting top Arab and international musical superstars and icons from time to time.
Angham started her musical journey at a young age and boasts a rich career spanning three decades. She has given some of the largest selling albums and chartbusters. With nearly two dozen albums under her belt, Angham has carved a distinct niche for herself and is loved for her velvety voice. The majority of Anghams songs have been Arabic classics, not relying on modern music styles. Without doubt, she is one of the most influential and followed female musical voices around today.
The Damascus-born Assala Nasri began her musical career at the age of four. She sang the theme song Qessas Al Sho'oub of the cartoon show, Hekayat Alamiyah. Assala's commercial career debuted in 1991 with La Ta'rafou. The album featuring 4 songs in the oriental operatic tarab style became an instant hit. She quickly cemented her presence and unique style in a growing industry brimming with new, young talent like Najwa Karam, Saber Rebai, Angham, and Abdelmajeed Abdullah.
A prolific artist, the Syrian diva has released more than 20 albums showcasing her vocal command over various genres, including complex classical Arab operettas, Khaleeji and mainstream pop. Assala has also embarked on a television career, with two seasons as host of her own musical talk show Sola on OSN. Like Angham, Assala Nasri remains one of the all-time best selling female artists in the Middle East.

Some of the top names who have performed at the iconic Al Majaz Amphitheatre include Greek musical legend Yanni, Arab icon Marcel Khalife, the legendary Mohammed Abdu from Saudi Arabia and Jolio Iglesias, the Latin music superstar. The year 2017 began on an exciting note with top Arab and international artists performing at Al Majaz Amphitheatre as part of the Sharjah World Music Festival, hosted by Shurooq.
Since it was inaugurated in 2012 by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Al Majaz Amphitheatre, known for its distinct Roman colosseum-style setting in the middle of the picturesque Khalid Lagoon in Buheirah Corniche, has emerged as a popular art and cultural destination in the UAE, hosting a wide variety of events and performances.
