Software Escrow in Isrl, Really?

I always find it interesting to hear the perceptions that people have about the rest of the world, especially when they stay where they are and don't travel much. Back in October, I traveled to Tel-Aviv with one of our executives in the data backup and recovery business, where the software escrow business sits under. We spent three days helping promote the launch of a new partner for the software escrow business called ESOP Excellence. I have to admit, I was excited for the trip, but everyone around me was nervous or simply incredulous that I would get on a plane and go to a part of the world that has constant tension and risk, especially for Americans, or at least that's what we think. So let me be the first one to say, it was an amazing experience on all levels.

First, I am well-traveled and if it was not for the signs in Hebrew and Arabic I could have picked at least 10 other places I thought I could have been at when I looked out my hotel window. Second, all the people could not have been nicer, more welcoming, and on the business front, eager to connect, network, and find ways to do business and help each other. We participated in Ernst & Young's long running Journey 12 conference, and while there I learned a few things about networking Tel Aviv style. Israel is a hot bed for technology companies that want to win, partner and grow their businesses and at Journey 12 there were over 1,600 attendees participating. Our partner ESOP is a very well respected and connected stock and equity administrator for startup companies with a focus on tech. The marketplace is dynamic; the eco-system of investment and growth is equal to any in terms of the marketplace. There are venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, lawyers, accountants, and business people that network intensely to make the economy beat strong. And unlike other places that I have traveled to, the tools for doing deals, strategies, and views are not very different to the US. This makes Israel a perfect market to offer services that help engender trust between parties and facilitate the confidence to do business.
