Opening in limited release today are the latest from Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn, Kristin Wiig, and Werner Herzog and Errol Morris. Plus an eye-opening documentary about killer whales in captivity.

Only God Forgives: Director Nicolas Winding Refn and star Ryan Gosling paired up two years ago for the stylish-as-all-heck Drive. Now theyre back again, once more with a violent, clammed-up Gosling, though this time in an even more stylized setting, if thats even possible. Kristin Scott Thomas is also onboard, playing a fearsome, glamorous gorgon of a woman, Goslings characters mother.

Girl Most Likely: Kristen Wiigs first starring role since Bridesmaids sees her embarking upon a mother-daughter comedy that draws comparisons to Postcards From The Edge. Playing Wiigs mom? Annette Bening. If thats not enough, theres Matt Dillon as a chronic liar named "George Bush," and Glees Darren Criss playing a much younger love interest for Wiig. Its been a while for directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini since their critical smash American Splendor, but their odd comedic sensibility could serve Wiig and Bening well.

Blackfish: Much like The Cove turned its eye towards the horrible consequences that the fishing industry has for dolphins, Blackfish focuses on the mistreatment of killer whales by a much more seemingly benign culprit: the theme park industry. With a tragic incident involving a trainer as its jumping-off point, the entire practice of keeping whales in captivity comes under fire, and the results have garnered a whole lot of buzz.

The Act of Killing: In a year of fantastic documentaries, two of the best in the business, Werner Herzog and Errol Morris, present this genre-bending project with a controversial premise: challenge members of a notorious genocidal regime in Indonesia to recreate their massacres in the style of their favorite genre films. What will be the results of these men having to face the reality of their crimes, in trying to recreate them? The resulting film has won awards all across the globe, and now its peeking into theaters for the first time.
