No more sand in the hourglass: e.tv drops Days of Our Lives'Free-to-air channel e.tv will no longer air long-running soapie Days of Our Lives'. These are the new schedule changes

In April 2022, e,tv will be making major changes in order to shake up its primetime viewing schedule. One of many is the 1965 soap opera Days of Our Lives which will end on 11 April on the channel. These changes will also see more local content being introduced by the free-to-air TV station.

E.TV DROPS DAYS OF OUR LIVES' AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL SHOWS Days of our Lives is a soapie set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The show found a new home on e.tv in 2017 after being dropped by SABC 1. After approximately five years on e.tv, the free-to-air channel is also dropping it. In addition, the TV station will be dropping other international shows such as Chicago PD, Chicago Fire and NCIS.

By adding new things to e.tv's schedule and trying to create new content, some of the things have to go since there are only so many hours in a day. Days of Our Lives is discontinued from 11 April.

NEW SHOWS AND PRIMETIME SCHEDULE As of 11 April, Isono (which aired on BET channel 129) will make its way to e.tv. The drama series will air in the 20:30 timeslot.

Straight after Isono, Imbewu:The Seed will come on at 21:00, which is 30 minutes before its current timeslot.

The channel is also introducing a new adult drama series called The Black Door. The new show, which is commissioned for 260 episodes, is by Black Brain productions which is behind Mzansi Magic's Lockdown and Diep City.

ABOUT THE BLACK DOOR' Citizen reports that the show will touch on themes such as religion, politics, sex work and of course, love and family. The publication also stated that Mpumelelo Nhlapho of Black Brain productions explained that his team worked with an intimacy coach to equip both the cast and crew with the right tools to deal with the shows' sex scenes and sexual subject matter in the most professional way possible.

Among some of the cast members is Zamani Mbatha (Pule on Rhythm City), Velephi Mnisi (Nomsa on Gomora), Linda Sebezo (Lillian on Isibaya) and Gabisile Tshabalala (Moya on Single Guyz)
