GSMA Presents Health and Safety Plan for MWC Los Angeles

A multi-layered plan to ensure the safety of all

23 August 2021, Los Angeles: Today, the GSMA shared details of the health and safety plan for MWC Los Angeles scheduled to take place Oct 26-28, 2021. The organization is grateful for the partnership of the City of Los Angeles, LA Tourism Board, Los Angeles Convention Center and, Joffe Emergency Services in delivering this year's event safely.

As Covid-19 remains a critical planning consideration, the GSMA continues to monitor global and national circumstances seeking expert advice and incorporating local health authority guidance in this dynamic situation. The health and safety of our exhibitors, attendees, staff, and the people of Los Angeles remain the top priority.

The plan incorporates a layered approach leveraging the successful delivery of MWC Barcelona 2021 this past June, the world's first large scale event to come together globally since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The experience and execution of MWC21 forms the basis of Committed Community MWCLA, tailored for current and local circumstances.

The health and safety plan, Committed Community MWCLA, will impact everyone involved with the event and, details include;

Testing

Before leaving home, travelers from some destinations will be required to show a negative Covid-19 test before being allowed to travel. Travelers should check with their airlines for the latest information

Participants will need to provide proof of either vaccination or a negative covid test to access the venue

Temperature checks administered at access points

The Venue

The LACC is GBAC STAR accredited venue and implemented a new program, Blue Tower, focusing on cleaning and building maintenance operations to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Elements include;

Floor plans incorporating social distancing requirements

Signs and graphics in public areas to highlight infection control practices

A new cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection (CSD) team dedicated to the care of high-touch public areas

Touch-free technology throughout

Additional hand sanitizing stations in public areas

Indoor air quality will be monitored constantly

Outside air will be maximized to improve indoor air quality

Your commitment

Providing proof of vaccine or a negative covid test result (updated every 72 hours) to gain entrance to the venue

Downloading an app to record negative test results or proof of vaccine

Adherence to mask-wearing, social distancing, frequent hand washing and, use of hand sanitizers throughout the venue

Cooperating with temperature checks at entrances to the venue

Respecting and following instructions of the MWCLA community managers

Planning in a pandemic is complicated. Global circumstances remain dynamic, which means constant evaluation and fine-tuning. The GSMA will continue to adapt its health and safety plan as new information is available or directed by local authorities.
