MTA International to Protect 40 Years Wor of Archive footage with a Petabyte of Object Matrix Storage

Object Matrix, provider of object based nearline storage has again been selected to provide an object-based digital preservation platform to global broadcaster MTA International. Due to Object Matrix storage suiting the tight workflow integrations and future-proof scalability requirements of MTA, the broadcaster has selected MatrixStore to preserve their 40 year legacy of tape archive, an archive they aim to share with their global community.

With headquarters based in London, MTA International broadcasts family viewing in up to eight different languages simultaneously, with studios and audiences spanning the globe. MTA focuses on providing a positive and educational influence for its viewers, covering a variety of topics and genres ranging from society and politics, to cooking and wildlife.

To satisfy the requirements set out by MTA International MatrixStore was chosen as it provides:

One useable petabyte of 10GigE connected storage that could be added to their existing disk based archive.

A self-managing object based solution supporting future hardware platforms and workflows.

A scalable system that will grow according to the broadcaster's needs.

Seamless API integration with Portal (by Cantemo) which is MTA's chosen Asset Management solution.

Future-proof growth plan. MTA will take delivery of an initial 500TB then add the remaining storage in a just in time manner thus allowing MTA to take advantage of any advances in hardware technology.
