Thomson Broadcast, for years a major developer and supplier of technology for broadcasters around the world, will be launching two new ranges of television transmitters at the upcoming International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) to be held in Amsterdam from 12-16 September.

Pascal Veillat, President of Thomson Broadcast and Chairman of Arelis Group, says: IBC 2014 is a new challenge for us with the launch of two new ranges of television transmitters to meet customers highest expectations in terms of compactness, energy efficiency and signal quality performances. Benefitting from industrial expertise of the group we are also launching new in-house autonomous and green energy transmission system adaptable to any environment. Sharing innovative R&D horizontal programs among the group allows us to develop cutting-edge technology solutions with regard to energy conversion, radio frequency or telecommunications, meeting off-grid sites issues or environmental constraints.

Thomson will launch a low-power transmission range and medium-power one.

Designed for rapid digital television deployment, the new low-power transmitter ranging from 20W to 150W RMS, adapts to any location. This ultra-compact transmitter offers many options such as a built-in 1 1 redundancy to adapt to any SFN or MFN network. Agile over the UHF band, DVB-T and DVB-T2 dualcast, up to 8 PLP s are supported to allow broadcasters the mix of diverse mobile and fixed services within a single RF channel, delivering maximum efficiency.

Offering from 200W to 3kW RMS, the new medium-power range is perfectly suited to the deployment of energy-efficient networks or network extensions. With a modular design, it offers the best cost efficiency accommodating up to 6 completely autonomous 400W transmitters or 3 autonomous 750W transmitters in a unique cabinet. This range features latest advanced technologies for next- generation broadcasting such as MPLP support and dualcast DVB-T/DVB-T2 for easy migrations.

In addition to these two ranges, Thomson will also offer its autonomous solar transmission system. With more than 20 years expertise in energy conversion within the Arelis group and 100 years of Thomson digital deployments all over the world, this new offer of autonomous solar transmission system features the best cost-efficient performance for off-grid and green alternative transmission sites. Suited to low-power 4G and broadcast applications this photovoltaic system can be sized to fit to any environment thanks to an autonomous modular design.
