Aframe is pleased as punch that FOX Sports 1 has embraced the Aframe cloud video platform as the centrepiece of a new self-service assignment desk workflow. FOX Sports 1 found that Aframe stands alone in capabilities that were mission-critical to enabling the station to revolve around content sent to it from global network partners and freelance sports journalists - stringers - instead of fleets of satellite trucks.

Because content uploaded to Aframe is immediately converted into a web viewable proxy, FOX producers can view content on the Web and choose what they want quickly.

There's no waiting for hours for all the content to download - the team can just find the exact five seconds it needs.

Because Aframe simultaneously converts the content to FOX's preferred DVCPRO format at the same time it makes the web proxy, FOX has a broadcast-ready house format version already done at the time of ingest.

Producers can view content fast and select only the useful clips to go to the edit, or to air - and not spend time on the rest.

The FOX Sports 1 assignment desk doesn't have to go back and download footage of interest before producers can use it. When producers have found what they need, the DVCPRO version is already done and available for use on air.

Wendy Allen, FOX Sports Vice President of Media Engineering, says it all: Aframe's private cloud solution is a new paradigm shift that will save FOX time and money.

FOX's SVP New Technologies, Clyde Smith, will follow up his appearance at last year's IBC by again speaking about the integration between FOX and Aframe at this year's NAB Show. On Wednesday April 9, Clyde will be joined by Aframe CEO David Peto on a Case Study Panel, where he will tell the story of the evolution of this unique news gathering workflow.
