RT Wins 34 Radio Awards At The 2016 New York Festivals

RT received an impressive 34 radio awards at the prestigious 2016 New York Festivals, which was held last night at New York City's Manhattan Penthouse. The remarkable wins saw RT collect a total of 34 awards, including 20 medals, during the gala. The awards are set out to honour radio programming and promotions in all lengths and formats from radio stations, networks and independent producers from around the globe.

Jim Jennings, MD of RT Radio, said: This year's awards from the New York Festivals are a vote of confidence in the value and relevance of our RT 's radio programming. Once again, the RT Radio 1 Documentary on One unit has excelled, bringing home eleven awards, and RT Radio 1's Drama On One received a notable seven awards. RT 2FM's new station identity won an award for its innovative new imaging,and RT lyric fm's The Lyric Feature proves again to have a winning formula, receiving a gold medal for Vocal Chords: The Odyssey of the Voice'. RT continues to be committed to providing exceptional radio programming from all our stations schedules.

The awards include eleven wins for RT Radio 1's multi-award-winning documentary strand, Documentary on One and seven for Drama on One. Radio 1's The Book Show won in the Best Special Event' category for Women & Words, with featured contributors like Sabina Coyne Higgins, Miriam O Callaghan, Olivia O Leary and Temper-Mental MissElayneous.

On RT lyric fm, The Lyric Feature series collected three awards, with Athena Media Ltd's production, winning gold for Vocal Chords:The Odyssey of the Voice in the Music' category. Marty in The Morning and Liz Nolan's Lyric Notes also received awards on the night.

RT 2FM earned a medal for its new station imaging Sound of the Nation and RT jr's CAKE(Culture and Arts for Kids and Everyone) was also recognised in the Best Children/ Young Adult Program category.

RT was named New York Festivals International Radio Broadcaster of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2015.

The New York Festivals Grand Jury selected 2016's award-winners from entries submitted from 29 countries worldwide. Entries were judged by the 2016 Grand Jury on production values, organization, and presentation of information, creativity and use of the medium.
