60 German and international Sky Originals to air in 2022 alone
New series like Autobahn, Tender Hearts and Chameleon enable Sky to bring customers even more premium, local, originals
Sky Deutschland has announced a range of new original series Autobahn, Tender Hearts and Chameleon, alongside plans to bring customers over 60 German and international Sky Originals next year. The news follows the arrival of four new channels Sky Crime, Sky Comedy, Sky Nature and Sky Documentaries in Germany.
Autobahn - Even as kids, brothers Ali and Leo loved fast cars and motorsport. Today, as police officers, they know how to keep their cool while chasing suspects at 150mph. Shot across Bavaria, Autobahn is a new, high-octane, crime series (10 x 45') from producer Action Concept in association with Sky Studios. The lead writers are Sven Frauenhoff and Andreas Brune. The producers are Heiko Schmidt, Andreas Perzl and Frank Jastfelder.
Tender Hearts - Frustrated with her dating and sex life, Mila orders a humanoid love robot from advanced tech firm, Tender Hearts. Set in the year 2036, the sensitive, humorous series asks profound questions about love, life and our ever increasing reliance on tech to fill our needs and desires. The series (8 x 30') is produced by Odeon Film in association with Sky Studios with Eva Lia Reinegger set to pen the series, with Pola Beck as Director. The Executive Producers are Katja Herzog, Andreas Perzl, Frank Jastfelder.
Chameleon - Set in the murky and mysterious world of corporate lobbying, we meet Max The Chameleon' a calculated and smooth operator who begins to question himself after he meets Vallery, a new, mysterious lobbyist, who both attracts and repels him at the same time. Produced by Isarstra en Film in association with Sky Studios, the series (8 x 45') is penned by lead writer Christian Jeltsch.
In addition to these new Sky Originals, previously announced titles including The Ibiza Affair and The Wasp are both set to air this year, with Der Pass S2, Paradiso, Das Boot S3, Souls and the fourth season of the global hit Babylon Berlin all set to air in 2022.
Elke Walthelm, EVP& MD Content at Sky Deutschland: "We want to offer our viewers the best, most exciting programmes, that's why we are increasing our investment in new Sky Originals made for our customers in Germany. In addition to the new titles announced today, we have even more, great projects in the pipeline from Sky Studios. We have ambitious plans for Sky Originals in Germany as we double our group-wide investment in original content by 2024. By next year, we will have 60 Sky Originals on our schedule, including new Sky Original series from the UK and Italy."
Jane Millichip, Chief Content Officer Sky Studios: Across Europe, Sky Studios is creating premium original content like never before; working with the best storytellers from Germany, Italy, the UK and across the world. Our production and development pipeline in Germany is particularly exciting with even more new shows announced today, including high-octane series like Autobahn, through to warm and future-looking comedies such as Tender Hearts. German creativity and production are in rude health and we're pleased to increase investment in order to showcase German storytellers to the world.
Frank Jastfelder, Director Original Production scripted Sky Deutschland: "Local, premium original content is becoming an increasing important part of our content offering. We want to bring our customers stories they wouldn't find anywhere else, with some of the best German talent working both in front of, and behind, the camera. Thats why were increasing our investment in Sky Originals and broadening the range and variety of new series we are producing over the coming years.

About Sky Studios
Sky Studios brings to screen unique stories from the very best talent in Europe.
We develop, produce and fund original drama, comedy and documentary for Sky's 24m customers and beyond. Building on the success of critically-acclaimed Sky Originals including Emmy-winning Chernobyl, Bafta-winning Patrick Melrose and international hits Das Boot, Riviera and Britannia, Sky Studios is the new creative home of Sky Originals, such as The Third Day with Jude Law, I Hate Suzie, co-created by Lucy Prebble and Billie Piper and BAFTA-nominated hit comedy, Brassic.
We're an agile Studio, seeking out the best untold stories from new voices while working in creative partnership with today's best writers, producers and on-screen talent to bring viewers stories they wouldn't find anywhere else.
With commissioning talent and production capability across the UK, Germany and Italy, we understand local tastes across Europe better than anyone else and have plans to more than double our investment in original content by 2024, fully supported and backed by Comcast NBCUniversal.
We're also developing a new TV and movie studio, Sky Studios Elstree, which is expected to lead to the creation of over 2,000 new jobs and generate an additional £3 billion of production investment in the UK creative sector in the first five years alone.
Sky Studios invests in the cultural economy and global production sector with equity stakes in several production companies in the UK and the US, including Great British Bake-Off creator Love Productions, and the premier reality crime producer in the US, Jupiter Entertainment, creator of long-running hit Snapped. Sky Studios has invested in high quality factual specialists Blast! Films, True North Productions, and Transistor Films; natural history producer True to Nature; drama producers The Lighthouse and Longboat Pictures; and growth businesses Sugar Films, Chrysalis Vision, and Talos Films (US).
