NOMZAMO MBATHA AS ALEXA Nomzamo Mbatha portrays the role of Alexa in the action-packed sci-fi thriller Assassin with popular actor Bruce Willis.

Her character Alexa is a woman is mourning her dead lover and has not been able to find the right answers.

My character is trying to strike a balance between grief and worrying about whether I have lost him forever, she said.

But there's also the complexity of hope. The hope that he will get better, that he will come back to me. That I will find the answers, and that I will hold the people who have put him in this state accountable.

Zimoja reports this is Mbatha's second Hollywood film as she previously starred in Coming 2 America alongside Trevor Noah and Eddie Murphy.

BACKGROUND OF ASSASSIN' FirstShowing reports that Assassin, which features actors Bruce Willis and Nomzamo Mbatha is created by Saban Films and 120dB Films.

The publication adds: A private military operation led by (Willis) invents futuristic microchip tech. It enables the mind of an agent to inhabit the body of another person to carry out covert, deadly missions. But when an agent (Mustafa Shakir) is killed during a secret mission, his wife (Mbatha) must take his place. In an attempt to bring the man responsible to Justice.

Upcoming filmmaker and editor Jesse Atlas directs the film and co-writes it with Aaron Wolfe. Atlas makes his directorial debut with this project after numerous short films and lots of editing work previously.

WORKING WITH BRUCE WILLIS The actress Nomzamo Mbatha says it took her months to prepare for her role in Assassin and she was nervous about working alongside Bruce Willis.

I was very nervous, but once I started production, the nerves vanished. I wasn't nervous at all. I enjoyed working with him so much. He still has that amazing smirk, the Bruce Willis smirk.

The biggest lesson I've learned from him is the beauty of humility. The fact that you can be the biggest star in the world but still greet everyone on set, just taking a moment to make people feel seen.

It was beautiful to witness. It stuck with me that you lose nothing by being a global superstar but still have humility at your core, she tells Sunday World.

Assassin is Willis' last film role as the actor revealed in 2022 that he's been diagnosed with dementia.

Assassin premieres on Showmax on 13 May 2024.
