Blackmagic Design has announced a new swathe of new and updated products, including new UltraStudio 4K Mini, a public beta version of DaVinci Resolve 16.1 and the 6K version of the company's Pocket Cinema Camera.

UltraStudio 4K Mini, a new capture and playback solution for Thunderbolt 3 computers with 12G-SDI, HDMI, analogue video and audio connections that lets users build solutions for editing, colour grading, live broadcast graphics, archiving from traditional broadcast decks and live internet streaming.

The new UltraStudio 4K Mini model is a portable Thunderbolt 3 capture and playback solution which includes 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0 and analog connections. Users are able to get broadcast quality 8 and 10-bit high dynamic range capture in all formats up to 4K DCI at 60p, and 12-bit high dynamic range capture in all formats up to 4K DCI at 30p.

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is a new handheld digital film camera with a full Super 35 size 6K HDR image sensor, 13 stops of dynamic range, an EF lens mount and dual native ISO up to 25,600 for low light performance. The new model builds on the popularity of the 4K version but has a larger Super 35 sensor size with 6K resolution, allowing higher image quality. The EF lens mount model works with a wide range of lenses from companies such as Canon, Zeiss, Sigma and Schneider.

DaVinci Resolve 16.1 includes updates to the cut page. The new public beta version includes changes in the bin that enable users to place media in various folders and isolate clips from being used when viewing clips in the source tape, sync bin or sync window. Clips will be seen in all folders below the current level and as users navigate around the levels in the bin, the source tape will reconfigure in real time.

Another feature on the beta version is the new Smart Indicator, which works by estimating where the editor wants to add an edit or transition and then allowing it to be applied without placing in and out points on the exact locations of the clips.

Blackmagic RAW Speed Test is a new performance measurement tool for Mac OS X that tests a computer's CPU and GPU speeds using full resolution Blackmagic RAW image decodes. Multiple CPU cores and GPUs are automatically detected and used during the test so that users are able to see accurate and realistic results. As well as running multiple resolution and frame rate tests, users can also select specific test resolution to run on the main meters and the test will continue to run constantly, allowing stress testing of host computers.

Results are displayed in a table that shows how many frames per second the computer can decode for all supported resolutions.
