Papaya helps Mercedes-Benz Poland honor search and rescue volunteers

International production company Papaya recently teamed with BBDO Warsaw and Mercedes-Benz Poland to highlight Mercedes' work with non-profit organization Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue . The stunning :90 spot, directed by Papaya's Antek Nykowski, includes both Polish- and English-language versions.

Mercedes-Benz Poland is a longtime supporter of GOPR, donating all-terrain vehicles to GOPR's network of rescue stations throughout Poland, which are maintained by hundreds of volunteers who have made 1,137 rescues over the past year alone. The spots showcase the day-to-day adventures of a GOPR rescuer, played by real-life GOPR volunteer Micha Kucharzewski, amid breathtaking surroundings. Filming took place over three days in the Karkonosze mountains in southwestern Poland; DP Michal Dabal shot on a RED Dragon and also utilized drones for aerial photography. Post production was completed by Platige Image with a turnaround time of just twelve days.

Early on we sat down with some volunteers and talked about their lives and their work, and we quickly realized how physically challenging it would be to capture their world, said director Nykowski. We aimed to create a spot that would encompass both the vast beauty and ruggedness of the Polish mountains, but also the intimacy of each volunteer's relationship with the outdoors.

The GOPR volunteers are so humble, but they deserve recognition, explained Mateusz W jcik of BBDO Warsaw.
