Ningbo enters flood season, expected to see le & weaker typhoons

Ningbo officially entered its flood season on April 15, and the relevant government department convened a conference on the same day to conduct forecasts and defense plans in regards to the flood period.

Influenced by Ei Ni o, which has lasted 11 consecutive months (since last May), Ningbo's daily temperatures have risen significantly since the start of April. The Ei Ni o event is expected to be stronger and trigger more changeable weather in Ningbo in the following days, according to officials of the Ningbo Weather Bureau.

According to the forecast of the Ningbo Weather Bureau, there will be 3 to 5 typhoons that influence Ningbo this year, less than past years. Ningbo is expected to enter its rainy season in the middle of June and end its rainy season in early July, with a total estimated rainfall of 240-280 millimeters, higher than the usual expected amount of 243 millimeters.

The government will set up 50 monitoring sites to make sure people in danger can be quickly transferred to safer places in case of geological disasters. Up to now, there are 1,683 3-level disaster-prevention places in Ningbo, covering 2.28 million square meters and which are able to accommodate more than 600,000 people at one time.
