Sony generalizes the HDR in their professional products New improvements include HD live HDR for broadcasting and an immediate HDR workflow to meet the growing demand for content in high dynamic range.
Sony It is expanding HDR capabilities of many of its professional products to satisfy the requirements of HDR content in all genres of production. New improvements offer broadcasting HD live HDR and an immediate HDR workflow in products ranging from servers, and live camera systems to monitor and camcorders, using software or firmware updates.
High dynamic range (HDR) brings greater realism to moving images and creates a considerably more realistic viewing experience. Television stations, producers of live events and online content creators have HDR production requirements specific, and the expansion of the production capacities in Sony HDR provides them with many and varied advantages.
HDR-live broadcast
Sony already offers a complete range of production systems 4K HDR for movies, television series and live broadcasts. In it, Sony has established your workflow SR live for HDR, a powerful system for the simultaneous production of 4K HDR & HD DEG.
In July 2016, the International Telecommunication Union published recommendation ITU-R HDR-TV, BT.2100-0. This standard presents two options for the production of HDR images: Perceptual quantification (PQ) and hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), which opens the door to a more widespread adoption of emission in HDR.
At the same time, many customers are also looking to produce high definition (HD) content in HDR, especially because the migration of HD to 4K Ultra HD can still take some time.
Workflow
SR live for HDR, is compatible with the simultaneous production based on HD HDR and SDR HD high definition with the same method as for 4K HDR. In the workflow SR live for HDR, camera output signal is converted to S-Log3, BT.2020, HD HDR as intermediate format for production processes.
Once produced the image, Sony HDR HDRC-4000 converts the conversion of production unit to a suitable format of transmission capacity HDR, as, for example, the HLG or PQ standardized. HDRC-4000 unit uses original algorithms, which include AIR (Artistic Rendering Intent) integrated Matching to faithfully reproduce the image quality and color determined during the production S-Log3, regardless of the format of transmission used.
The production environment of SR live for HDR It includes a wide variety of types of devices, formats, subjects and suppliers. The system is capable of providing high-quality content, since the images are produced using the format S-Log3, and are converted to the format of distribution or desired emission.
Cameras
In terms of recruitment, the following system cameras will be all compatible with S-Log3 and BT.2020 for SR live for HDR and include the HD HDR capability via a firmware update: HDC-4800, HDC-4300 and HDC-P43.
For the HDC-2500, 4K HDR HKCU processor card - 2040 provides both 4K capacity as HD HDR from image sensor.
The PXW-FS5 and PXW-Z150 from Sony will also include additional HDR capabilities through a software update. The FS5 will be compatible with HLG, besides with S-Log3. The HLG mode [2] can be quickly configured using the profile of newly added image option. The HLG mode will also be compatible with the PXW-Z150.
On the other hand, the Live Server 4 K PWS-4500 is compatible with S-Log3, HLG HD and 4 K/HD PQ through an update of the software to version 2.3.
As to OLED HD BVM-E171 reference monitor is compatible with HDR using a new HDR monitoring license: BVML-HE171. This license provides users an option to implement HDR adapted to your production needs and budget. The BVM - X 300 and PVM - X 550 Sony monitors are already compatible with HDR and support any resolution up to 4K. In addition, the incorporation of HDR to the BVM-E171 carries HD HDR monitoring functions to new users, including mobile units with limited space.
HDR workflow immediately
As it continues to increase the need for HDR content, platforms of Internet video and the professionals who produce enterprise content or events pay more attention to the added value of the HDR. They need to provide content quickly, without compromising the quality of the content or the expression of the image. To respond to this demand, Sony now offers HDR capability in their hand basic PXW-FS5 and PXW-Z150 XDCAM camcorders. Both have recording HLG to facilitate workflows based on files, while providing an HDR-image quality. This simple workflow allows recording, editing, and display of HDR content without the need for an additional color gradation.
