Qube Cinema Adds Support for Auro . by Barco Sound System

Qube Cinema has been licensed to support Auro 11.1 by Barco playback in its flagship XP-D and XP-I digital cinema servers. Auro 11.1 by Barco provides movie-going audiences with the most natural 3D acoustics. Exhibitors now have the means to deploy this new sound system from Barco with Qube Cinema servers.

Auro 11.1 by Barco incorporates height and overhead channels to the existing surround sound, allowing a more natural and immersive experience, enveloping the audience without being distracting. With three layers of sound, Auro 11.1 mimics natural acoustics. Theater owners with existing Qube Cinema servers now have an easy upgrade path to accommodate this new audio format.

Adding Auro 11.1 capabilities to Qube Cinema servers allows exhibitors to maximize their revenues by offering audiences a premium sound experience, said Brian Claypool, senior director, Barco. As it is compatible with existing standards and workflows, Auro 11.1 offers a cost-effective upgrade path to this immersive sound technology.
