With the first overall pick, a high school phenom was selected by her hometown squad; a record 12 trades occurred; and a four-hour live REMI production covered it all. NWSL Draft 2023 saw the league partner with CBS Sports to produce four hours of live coverage from the live event in Philadelphia.
But what does it take to produce a live draft for television?
On this episode of SVG Rewind, we take a look back at the live production of NWSL Draft 2023 with the league's SVP/Executive Producer, Broadcast and Media Brian Gordon. He reflects on some of the show's key moments, pulls back the curtain on the REMI operational plans, and offers a peak on other projects that his team is working on in advance of the league's return to action in March.
