
PA, the UK's leading provider of multimedia content and services, will again partner with media charity tve to celebrate UK television programming which best engages the audience with the environment. The PA Award for Environmental Storytelling will be presented at the tve Global Sustainability Film Awards at The May Fair Hotel on 18 November 2019.
The tve Global Sustainability Film Awards showcase films from businesses around the world which are addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Competitive categories, for which companies worldwide are invited to enter films, include Companies taking Climate Action, Transforming Society, Sustainable Transactions, Sky: Beyond Plastic, Infrastructures for the Future, and AI and Digital Innovation.
The PA Award for Environmental Storytelling is a nominated prize which spotlights outstanding examples of UK television broadcasting about the environment across news, current affairs and factual genres. Previous winners include Sky News for its documentary A Plastic Whale,' about a Cuvier's beaked whale whose stomach was found to be clogged with plastic, and the BBC for the final episode of Blue Planet IIwhich featured Sir David Attenborough's call for humanity to take action against the damage done to the planet.
Television is a powerful medium for informing and educating the wider public about the challenges facing our planet. We look forward to celebrating once again compelling examples of environmental storytelling that have aired during the year,' says Tony Watson, managing director of PA.

The tve Global Sustainability Film Awards are organised annually by the charity tve and are now in their 8th year. Jennifer Viccars, Octopus Group's brand and marketing director, is president of the 2019 Awards which are now open for entries. Businesses and institutions globally are invited to enter films into the following competitive categories, which focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals: Companies taking Climate Action, Transforming Society, Sustainable Transactions, Sky: Beyond Plastic, Infrastructures for the Future, and AI and Digital Innovation. tve will also run the nominated categories, The Founder's Award for Sustainability on the Big Screen, an award directed at feature length films addressing one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals; and the PA Award for Environmental Storytelling. gsfa.tve.org

Sky has partnered with tve to sponsor the Beyond Plastic category for a second year. Through Sky Ocean Rescue, Sky is using its voice and reach to inspire simple, everyday changes to stop the oceans from drowning in plastic. Since January 2017 over 45.8 million people are aware of the campaign and 7 million Sky households have changed their attitudes towards single-use plastic. Sky has ambitious plans for future engagement with more ground-breaking content and sports partnerships. As a business, Sky is committed to leading by example and transforming its own business by eliminating all single use plastics from its operations by 2020. It is encouraging and supporting innovation to develop solutions through Sky Ocean Ventures, a 25M venture fund.
