Shiver To produce raft of new factual entertainment shows for ITV
ITV Studios' factual division, Shiver has been commissioned by ITV to produce a raft of new factual entertainment shows.
Shiver is producing two more documentaries in its The Nation's Favourite format for ITV, The Nation's Favourite 70s Number Ones (1 x 90') and The Nation's Favourite 80s Number Ones (1 x 90'). The documentaries will count down the UK's most-loved hits from these two decades, covering the disco, Glam Rock and heart-throb singers of the 1970s and the power ballads, electro pop and American rockers of the 1980s. Both will air in 2015.
Meanwhile, Carry On Forever (3 x 60'), airing next year on ITV3, will tell the story of this most famous of British comedy brands. With access to cast members like Jim Dale, the classic film clips, TV spin-offs and previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage, Carry On Forever will take cast members like Angela Douglas and Fenella Fielding back to the original filming locations to tell the definitive story of this iconic British comedy brand.
Following on from last year's Come On Down: The Game Show Story, The Magic Show Story (1 x 60'), presented by Stephen Mulhern, will air on ITV in 2015. This special will tell the tale of how British TV fell in love with magic and how it played host to international stars like David Copperfield. Stephen Mulhern will embark on a journey through 60 years of magic, recreating some of the tricks that left audiences spellbound along the way.
Shiver has also been commissioned to produce Youve Got To Love Christmas (1 x 60') to air on ITV in December, which will mix classic archive clips with comic tales from comedians, journalists, celebrities and members of the public to entertain viewers in pursuit of the perfect Christmas.
December will also mark 50 years since Barbara Knox first set foot in Coronation Street. Shiver is making Rita & Me (1 x 60'), a tribute to one of Britain's most-loved actors, which will air next month. With contributions from her friends and colleagues, Rita & Me will look at how Barbara has tackled some of drama's toughest storylines to make Rita one of TV's most popular characters.
Mark Robinson, Creative Director of Shiver, said: Shiver has always been, and with these new commissions continues to be, at the forefront of celebrating popular culture. Songs, films and TV moments like these are the DNA of our cultural lives and give us all a shared, national nostalgia. In shows like these we want to reveal the stories the viewers didn't know about something they think they know so well. All of these commissions are an excellent illustration of the volume and diversity of programming being made by Shiver, and in the case of these shows, by the Shiver teams in Leeds and MediaCity.
