StarHub expands digital reading platform with Booktique Magazines

Initial catalogue of 50 popular digital titles expected to double by first half of 2014

Singapore, 12 November 2013 - Following the launch of its e-bookstore Booktique' this year, StarHub today announced the expansion of its e-reading platform into the digital magazines space.

Named Booktique Magazines', the service offers 50 locally-published titles covering various genres, such as automotive, business, dining, entertainment, fashion, health, parenting, news and sports. Titles include Asian Geographic, August Man, Epicure, F***, Prestige and evo Singapore as well as StarHub's entertainment guide Telescope, which is one of the nine free titles available on Booktique Magazines. We believe the time is right for us to expand our digital reading platform, given that e-reading is fast becoming second-nature to a vast number of tech-dependent consumers in Singapore. Through Booktique and Booktique Magazines, we want to further stimulate and support the production of local content that appeals to local tastes, ultimately accelerating the growth of our local digital publishing industry, said Mr Stephen Lee, StarHub's Head of i3 (Innovation, Investment, Incubation). Our digital reading ecosystem is more than just a stand-alone service; it is an integral part of StarHub's transmedia entertainment experience, whereby we enable our customers to enjoy digital content, from books, magazines to movies and TV shows.

Booktique Magazines will open on 14 November 2013 for all reading fans in Singapore, regardless of their mobile operator or broadband service provider. All they need to do is to sign up for a free Hub iD account with StarHub. They can then buy their favourite publications at www.booktique.sg/magazines and read them on the free Booktique Magazines mobile app available at Google Play. The iOS app will be rolled out early next year.

Purchases made on Booktique Magazines are charged through a Singapore credit or debit card from Visa or MasterCard. StarHub Mobile subscribers may choose to charge their purchases to their StarHub Mobile post-paid bill or pay using their StarHub GREEN pre-paid credits.
