The 4 International Port Cultural Festival Ningbo China Opened

On the morning of 16th, scholars of cultural relics preservation, museums and underwater archaeology from UNESCO,UK. France, Vietnam, Korea, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan gathered in Beilun to witness the completion ceremony of "China Port Museum and National Underwater Cultural Relics Preservation Base Ningbo", the first National Museum in Ningbo, which also declares the 4th International Port Cultural Festival Ningbo China open.

As the largest museum with the highest rank, which features the theme of port, China Port Museum covers an area of 52,000 square meters, with an area of structure 40987 square meters and a total investment of 0.7 billion yuan. There are 15,000 cultural relics collected in the museum. The museum consists of China Port History Museum, Modern Port, Port Science, Digital Ocean, Beilun Historical Sites and Relics Exhibition and Underwater Archaeology. It integrates exhibition, education, collection, scientific research, archaeology, tourism and international communication. And it has become an important base of discovering port history, inheriting port culture, and spreading ocean civilization, and an important cultural communication platform on thesea silk road of new century.

The National Underwater Cultural Relics Preservation Base Ningbo, as the first national museum of the same kind, is a display window for the underwater cultural relics preservation of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. By integrating underwater cultural heritage preservation, underwater archaeology, restoration of cultural relics, cultural relics show, researchers training and related program research, it will lay a foundation for China to discover more historic relics about China ocean civilization, ocean transportation in East China Sea. The base will cooperate with China Port Museum and share resources with each other, which will give a full play to the advantage of research institutions and motivate the local government to promote its cultural construction. In this way, the public cultural resources will be effectively shared and mutual benefits and win-win results will be achieved.
