SECOND SEASON OF U.S. CABLE SERIES TO AIR EXCLUSIVELY ON LOVEFiLM - NEW EPISODES AVAILABLE DAY AFTER U.S. BROADCAST

January 6, 2014 - Amazon's LOVEFiLM and MGM Television (MGM) has today announced that the highly anticipated second season of last year's critically-acclaimed Norse epic VIKINGS will air exclusively on LOVEFiLM in the UK.

Premiering on 28th February 2014, each new weekly installment in the 10 episode series will be available to stream the day after it broadcasts in the U.S. in full high definition, allowing LOVEFiLM members to keep up with the Viking horde as the season progresses.

Starring Travis Fimmel (star of the upcoming film Warcraft ), Katheryn Winnick ( Love and Other Drugs , Bones ) and Clive Standen ( Hammer of the Gods , Camelot ), VIKINGS season two sees the notorious Norse warrior Ragnar Lothbrok (Fimmel) use his new position as Earl to continue to plunder, pillage and explore new kingdoms with his band of fearless warriors.

Now allied with Donal Logue's ( Sons of Anarchy , Grounded for Life ) King Horrik, Ragnar is more powerful than ever. However, this newfound power comes at great cost - the betrayal of his vicious brother Rollo (Standen), the deterioration of his marriage to the fearless shield-maiden Lagertha (Winnick), and the scorn of his bold warrior son, Bjorn, played by newcomer Alexander Ludwig ( The Hunger Games ).

Created and written once again by Michael Hirst - one of the premier historical story-tellers in the industry (Academy-Award winning film Elizabeth and the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series The Tudors ) - VIKINGS season two is a tale of faith, power and relationships in which plots are hatched, scores are settled and blood is spilled.

Hirst serves as Executive Producer along with Morgan O'Sullivan of World 2000 ( The Count of Monte Cristo , The Tudors ), John Weber of Take 5 Productions ( The Tudors , The Borgias ), Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer, James Flynn ( The Tudors , The Borgias ) and Sheila Hockin ( The Tudors , The Borgias ). MGM Television serves as the international distributor in all markets outside of the U.S., Ireland and Canada. HISTORY broadcasts VIKINGS' in the U.S. Dirk Hoogstra and Julian P. Hobbs are the Executives in Charge of Production for HISTORY.
