Darryl Hamilton joins MLB Network as on-air analyst

Secaucus, N.J., February 19, 2013 Thirteen-year Major League Baseball veteranDarryl Hamiltonhas joined MLB Network as an analyst, appearing across MLB Network's programming. Hamilton will make his MLB Network debut calling two games at the 2013Urban Invitational tournamentat Minute Maid Park this Saturday, February 23 with MLB Network'sPaul Severino, Joe Magrane and Sam Ryan,beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Hamilton joins former Major LeaguersLarry Bowa, Eric Byrnes, Sean Casey, John Hart, Jim Kaat, Al Leiter, Mike Lowell, Joe Magrane, Jerry Manuel, Kevin Millar, Dan Plesac, Harold Reynolds, Billy Ripken, John Smoltz,Dave ValleandMitch Williamsas analysts at MLB Network.

As a player, Hamilton batted .291 with 1,333 hits, 707 runs scored and 454 RBI in his career. Known as a terrific defensive outfielder, Hamilton committed only 14 errors out of 2,770 defensive chances in his career for a .995 fielding percentage. Hamilton was part of four Postseason teams, including the 2000 National League Champion New York Mets. Hamilton spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Milwaukee Brewers (1988-1995) before joining the Texas Rangers (1996), San Francisco Giants (1997-1998), Colorado Rockies (1998-1999) and Mets (1999-2001).

Hamilton's previous experience in broadcasting includes roles as an analyst on Compass Media Network's radio broadcasts for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, NBC Sports Network's SportsTalk and KPRC (NBC) Houston, as well as MLB.com from 2003-2006. Hamilton also worked in the On-Field Operations department for the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball.
